Kolkata, May 8 -- Union minister of state for education Sukanta Majumdar on Thursday lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to free India from the menace of decades old Naxalism in different parts of the country.
Majumdar's praise of the PM happened a day after 22 Naxalites were eliminated in an encounter with the security forces in the forests of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district bordering Telangana where a massive counter-insurgency operation was underway.
"India is witnessing historic progress toward eradicating the decades-old menace of Naxalism," Majumdar, who is also BJP's West Bengal unit president, said.
