Mumbai, Nov. 22 -- union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has demanded that metro travel be made completely free for disabled passengers in Mumbai. At present, disabled commuters receive only a 25 per cent concession on metro fares, which places additional financial burden on their daily travel.
In an official letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Athawale stated that most disabled passengers already face significant financial challenges, while metro services offer them a convenient, safe and punctual mode of transport.
He said that making metro travel entirely free would provide major relief to this section of society.
