Chandigarh, Oct. 1 -- union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, today expressed serious concern over illegal sand mining, stalled highway projects and flood-affected areas in Punjab.
While touring flood-hit areas near Ajnala, he interacted with locals to hear their grievances.
Speaking to media Tamta highlighted that illegal sand mining is causing significant damage to Punjab's road infrastructure. He noted that dust from mining activities, overloading of vehicles, and makeshift routes are severely impacting highways. "This damage is not limited to road infrastructure; it is also adversely affecting farmers and public mobility," he said.
