Chennai, May 15 -- Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai stressed
the need on increasing women personnel in police forces as it would change public
perception and enable police to perform their duties in a more effective and efficient
manner.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 11th National Conference of Women in Police
commemorating completion of 50 years of women in Tamil Nadu Police, co-hosted by
Tamil Nadu Police and Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) at the
Tamil Nadu Police Academy at suburban Oonamancherry.
He said increasing the number of women personnel in police forces will not only change
public perception about the police, but also enable the police to perform their duties
