Hyderabad, Feb. 1 -- Chairman of the CPI Control Commission Narayana K on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the union Budget, terming it visionless, pro-corporate and disconnected from the country's socio-economic realities.

In a statement, Narayana said union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had attempted to "mesmerise people with a sweet-toned speech" while clearly prioritising corporate interests and ignoring the hardships faced by farmers, rural workers, youth and the unemployed. He argued that although the Budget size was projected at Rs 50.65 lakh crore, the apparent increase of Rs 2 lakh crore over the previous year was nullified once inflation of nearly five per cent was factored in.
