Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 1 -- Kerala General Education Minister V. Sivankutty on Sunday criticised the union Budget 2026-27, claiming that it had completely neglected public school education while favouring corporate interests and weakening workers' rights.

Addressing a press conference, the Minister said the budget failed to prioritise school education, which forms the foundation of higher learning and the country's future.

He noted that there were no concrete proposals for infrastructure development, quality improvement, or digital inclusion in Classes I to XII, while education-related allocations were largely confined to higher education and skill development.
