Patna, Feb. 2 -- Presenting the union Budget 2026-27 in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced the proposal to set up a shipyard in Patna and a Varanasi-Siliguri high-speed rail corridor, asserting that it will give a major boost to Bihar.

It is expected that these projects will improve connectivity in the state, reduce freight transportation costs, and create new training and employment opportunities for youth in the inland waterways sector.
