Shimla, Dec. 15 -- In a touching gesture that brought cheer and wide smiles, as many as 160 children from slum settlements, studying at Tong Len School in the Sarah area of Dharamshala, were taken to watch the India-South Africa T20 International match on Sunday.
For most of these children, who come from families struggling to meet daily needs, stepping into the stadium and watching their cricketing heroes play before their eyes was an unforgettable experience.
The initiative followed an assurance given recently by the state govenrment.
The children's excitement was evident as they cheered from the stands, soaking in the atmosphere of an international sporting event for the first time in their lives.
