Sultanpur, Dec. 8 -- An undergraduate student was kidnapped, brutally beaten, and killed before his body was dumped in the Gomti River in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.

Police have registered a case against ten named accused, arrested two, and detained one woman for questioning. Residents allege that the crime may be linked to a relationship dispute.

The victim, Aman Yadav (24), a resident of Sadhapur village under Chanda Kotwali, was abducted on Saturday around 7:45 pm by five to six men travelling in a car. A CCTV video that has surfaced shows the accused dragging Aman and forcing him into a vehicle. The attackers also vandalised and set fire to a local saloon before fleeing.
