United Nations, April 23 -- The members of the UN Security Council condemned "in the strongest terms the series of heinous and cowardly terrorist attacks" that took place in several churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, which resulted in nearly 300 killed and hundreds more wounded.

They expressed their "deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Sri Lanka" and wished "a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured".
