London, March 21 -- The UK military discussed at a meeting of the Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) sending British Typhoon fighter jets to Ukraine to provide air cover for ground troops, The Telegraph newspaper reported, citing a senior source in the Royal Air Force.

"We would never send British troops out on the ground without giving them air cover," the source was quoted as saying by the newspaper on Thursday.

The UK air force could provide either Typhoon fighters or American F-35s, the report added.
