Mumbai, July 10 -- The University Grants Commission (UGC) today issued a stern warning to higher education institutions to remain vigilant against all forms of ragging - including psychological, physical, and social harassment - especially those taking place through digital platforms like WhatsApp.

The UGC stated that harassment of junior students by seniors through WhatsApp messages or group chats will also be considered a form of ragging. Institutions must regularly monitor whether any such WhatsApp groups are being used by students to target juniors and cause distress.
