Kampala, March 17 -- The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has announced the withdrawal of its women's team from the third round of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger.
After the first two rounds played in South Africa, the top eight teams in the men and women's categories qualified to play in the third round slated for April 11-12, 2025 in Krakow, Poland.
Uganda Lady Rugby Cranes qualified after finishing eighth in the two rounds played in Cape Town.
Uganda had been placed alongside Kenya, Colombia and Thailand for the third round in Poland.
Unfortunately, URU announced on Monday that an executive committee had decided that the team be withdrawn because of several challenges beyond its control.
