Kampala, July 13 -- Uganda's team of six will compete in the 22nd World Aquatics Championship slated for July 15-20 in Singapore.

The team was officially flagged off by the National Council of Sports (NCS) Chairman Ambrose Tashobya during a ceremony held at the headquarters here on Saturday.

"We are confident that the team will perform well because they have prepared well," Tashobya said.

Debutant Benjamin Lutaaya and Swagiah Mubiru will compete in the 5km open water race, while the experienced Kirabo Namutebi, Gloria Muzito, Tendo Muklazi, Jesse Ssengonzi will participate in the pool events.

Head coach Abel Ddamulira said that the swimmers are very confident of winning some medals.
