Shillong, May 31 -- The United Democratic Party, an ally of the ruling National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya, has suffered a
suffered a significant political blow as veteran leader Jemimo Mawthoh quit the party.
In his resignation letter addressed to UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, Mawthoh said he tendered his resignation as member of the party and also relinquished his post as General Secretary with immediate effect due to unavoidable circumstances.
"This decision is purely personal and I strongly hold my ground on this matter," the former UDP legislator stated in the letter.
