Dharwad, June 27 -- In a significant step towards enhancing nutrition options for astronauts during space missions, the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Dharwad and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dharwad have jointly launched a study to assess the viability of sprouting grains in space. The collaborative research focuses on green gram and peanuts, evaluating their nutritional quality and microbial safety when sprouted in microgravity conditions. "This is part of a larger mission or 'abhiyan' aiming at developing sustainable, nutritious food options for astronauts.
