Abu Dhabi, March 17 -- The United Arab Emirates said on Tuesday that its air defence systems intercepted 10 ballistic missiles and 45 drones launched from Iran over the past 24 hours, underscoring heightened regional tensions.

In a statement, the Defence Ministry said the interceptions took place on March 17, adding that since the start of the conflict, hundreds of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles have been neutralised.

"The UAE air defence systems on 17th March 2026 engaged 10 ballistic missiles and 45 UAVs launched from Iran," the ministry said on X.

Since the start of the conflict, UAE air defense systems have intercepted 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,672 unmanned aerial vehicles, the statement added.
