New York, Aug. 7 -- Parts of the U.S. Army's Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia state were locked down Wednesday after an active shooter was reported on the sprawling Army post, according to an official social media post of the fort.
At least five soldiers were shot at Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield. The gunman was apprehended shortly afterward, according to the fort.
The lockdown was initiated at 11:04 a.m. (1504 GMT) and was lifted in the main cantonment area at 12:10 p.m. (1610 GMT). The 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team complex, where the shooting reportedly occurred, is still under lockdown.
