Patna, Aug. 12 -- A special court in Patna today convicted and sentenced three Sudanese nationals to two years of rigorous imprisonment for their involvement in a high-value gold
smuggling case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 against each of the convict.
Special Judge for Economic Offences, Aftab Alam, pronounced the verdict against Ali Abdal Gaffar Mala, Hamam Rashid Alhag Al Hassan, and Ibrahim Albakht Ibrahim Ali under various provisions of the Customs Act.
The court ruled that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional two months' imprisonment for each convict.
