Agartala, Aug. 14 -- Two members of the Tripura United National Front (TUNF) were apprehended by police in North Tripura today on the eve of Independence Day celebrations.

Police said that an ambush was set up near Kanchanpur-Vangmun, close to the Tripura-Mizoram border, where the arrests took place.

The individuals taken into custody, identified as Dhananjoy Reang from Katlichhera, Hailakandi, and Sadai Nanda Reang from Kasko, Damchhera, were found in possession of high-grade explosive materials.

The police indicated that their intentions included targeting law enforcement and security personnel stationed for the Independence Day festivities, as well as attempting to seize weapons and ammunition to bolster the ranks of their newly-form...
