Srinagar, Nov. 8 -- Two unidentified terrorists were eliminated after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, the Army said on Friday.

The encounter broke out after alert troops spotted suspicious movement near the LoC late last night and challenged the infiltrators, who opened indiscriminate fire. The troops retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

"Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation," the Army's Srinagar based Chinar Corps said on X.

Earlier, the Army said troops launched a joint operation based on specific intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration bid in the sector.
