Nagpur, Sept. 16 -- Two persons were swept away in separate incidents in swollen rivers following heavy rainfall in the Nagpur district of Maharashtra, officials said today.
A 42-year-old farmer, Raju Tarade, was grazing cattle near the Vena River at Bela village when the water level rose suddenly. He was washed away and later found dead, police said.
In another incident at Narkhed, 25-year-old Pravin Kavadati was swept away while taking a dip in the Jamb river. A search operation by local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is underway.
