Kolkata, Oct. 8 -- The Nagrakata Police today arrested two suspects for the alleged assault on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and party MLA Shankar Ghosh in north Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Monday.
According to official sources, one person was arrested from Nagrakata block and another from Jaigaon, a border area with Bhutan. The two have been identified as Akramul Haque and Govind Sharma.
However, it was not known immediately if the duo was named in the FIR lodged by the BJP after a group of people badly manhandled Murmu, the Lok Sabha member from Malda Uttar, and Shankar Ghosh, the MLA from Siliguri.
Both the BJP leaders had gone to Nagrakata to distribute relief materials to the flood-affected people.
