Srinagar, Aug. 9 -- Two Army men were killed and two soldiers were injured in an ongoing encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir which entered ninth day today, officials said.

They said in the intense exchange of fire between militants and security forces in Akhal forest area last night, four soldiers were wounded, out of them two succumbed to their injuries.

"The injured jawans were airlifted to Army's Srinagar 92 base hospital and two of them succumbed," a senior security official said.

The Army Srinagar-based Chinar Corps identified the two soldiers as Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh.
