Latehar, Oct. 30 -- An incident occurred in Chandwa block of Latehar district on Thursday afternoon when two siblings drowned in the Benga Dam under Jamira Panchayat while attempting to save their grandmother, who had slipped into the water.
The grandmother, identified as Tetri Devi, was rescued in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment at the Chandwa Community Health Centre.
According to local sources, the incident took place in Jamira when Dharmapal Prajapati's younger son, Sushant Kumar, and daughter, Chhoti Kumari, had gone to nearby fields with their grandmother, Tetri Devi. While the children were playing nearby, Tetri Devi entered the water at Benga Dam to take a bath but accidentally began to drown.
