Kolkata, April 21 -- Two persons were killed when a fire broke out at a store room on the third floor of a residential building in north Kolkata's Pathuriaghata midnight last night, fire brigade and police said on Monday. The fire brigade personnel after dousing the flames retrieved the two unconscious bodies on the top floor of the dilapidated building and took them to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where the medics declared them brought dead this morning.The two victims were the priests by profession. The fire brigade personnel said the two victims died of suffocation, also known as asphyxiation, after their attempt to go to the terrace failed as the rooftop door was locked.
