Mohali, Nov. 13 -- A police operation in Mohali's Dera Bassi area turned into a gunfight late on Tuesday when two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Dhillon gang opened fire on officers trying to apprehend them.
Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the exchange and were taken to the civil hospital in critical condition.
According to police officials, a tip-off indicated that the suspects were en route to commit a major criminal act. Acting swiftly, the police established checkpoints throughout the area.
