Prayagraj, Feb. 9 -- Two people were killed and eight others rescued after two cars carrying wedding guests plunged into a canal in Prayagraj district late on Sunday night, police said Monday.
The accident occurred around 10:30 pm in the Koraon police station area, when a wedding procession was traveling from Naini to Ghugha village. The cars lost control and fell into the Belan Main Canal, which was filled with water.
Seeing the vehicles fall into the canal, other baratis rushed to help but were unable to enter the canal due to strong water flow.
Police, SDRF, fire brigade teams, and local divers were immediately deployed.
