Thane, Jan. 6 -- Ahead of the municipal corporation elections, large-scale party switching by disgruntled candidates had already been witnessed. However, defections have continued even as campaigning has begun, leading to a major political churn in Nashik.

In a significant development, two former mayors of the Nashik Municipal Corporation have joined the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, strengthening the party's position in the city.

Former mayors Ashok Murtadak and Dashrath Patil formally entered the Shiv Sena at Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's residence, Shubh Deep, in Thane. Shinde welcomed both leaders into the party and extended his best wishes for their future political journey.
