Ranchi, Feb. 15 -- In a tragic turn amid ongoing elephant attacks in Hazaribag district, a Forest Department Quick Response Team (QRT) deployed to drive wild elephants back into forest areas met with a fatal road accident on Saturday, leaving two personnel dead and ten others seriously injured.

According to official sources, the QRT members were travelling from Bankura and were on their way to assist in operations to push the elephants away from human settlements. The team was proceeding towards Charhi Ghati when a speeding trailer rammed into their vehicle near the lower stretch of the Ghati. The impact was so severe that the forest vehicle was completely mangled.
