Shimla, July 14 -- Two people drowned when a car, in which they were travelling, fell into Baspa river near Karchham in Kinnuar district on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner, Kinnuar, Gopal Thakur said the drowned were identified as 52-year-old Chandu Lal from Kuppa village of Kinnuar and Vikash Bahadur, resident of Nepal.

Car was retrieved from the water body with the help of a crane after water level was reduced with the help of JSW company (Karchham Wangtoo hydro project). Tehsildar Sangla also visited the spot. Police and rescue teams are searching for the drowned.

Baspa is the tributary of Satluj River and houses two power projects on its basin. UNI ML SV 1430
