Chennai, May 19 -- Two people died and two others were admitted to hospital due to asphyxiation while cleaning a tank at a dyeing unit in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.

Police sources said the four workers entered into the tank to clean it when they inhaled toxic gas and fell unconscious.

As there was no response them from, locals alerted the police and fire service personnel, who rescued them and admitted to a hospital, where two of them were declared brought dead.

The other two were admitted in the hospital for treatment.

Tiruppur District Collector T. Christuraj and senior police officials visited the spot and ordered a detailed probe into the incident. UNI GV 2147
