Eluru, Sept. 28 -- Two devotees of goddess Durga were killed and another seriously injured when a car knocked them down while they were on the way to Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada on foot at Pullalapadu village of Nallajarla mandal of the district on Sunday.

Police said that a group of devotees, who accepted Bhavani Deeksha, were going to the hill shrine Kanaka Durga temple to relinquish their deesha on Dussehra Day.

A speeding car ploughed through the devotees killing Pakruthi Shiva (35) and Pakruthi Sreenu (22). One devotee was critically injured in the mishap and he was admitted to the GGH in Eluru.
