Meerut, July 12 -- Two dreaded criminals were shot dead in an encounter with police in Pallavpuram phase-2 on late Thursday night, police confirmed on Friday.
Three police personnel also sustained injuries during the encounter.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Sahani said that both the criminals, Shakil and Zakir, were wanted in a recent case of looting Rs 10 lakhs from a collection agent and carried a bounty of Rs 25,000 each.
Both the criminals were critically injured in the encounter which took place near Uday Park and succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
The injured policemen have been admitted to the hospital where condition of all the three is said to be stable.
