New Delhi, Feb. 6 -- Following a brief exchange of fire, Delhi Police arrested two men with a long history of violence after they allegedly opened fire on a police team during an attempted arrest, an official said on Friday.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 3:15 am on Venkateswara Marg near a DTC bus stand in Sector-3, R.K. Puram.

A special team from Police Station R.K. Puram was on night patrol following a series of recent snatching, burglary, and theft cases reported in the Vasant Vihar subdivision.

Acting on a tip-off from an informer, the team spotted the two suspects roaming in the area, allegedly armed and planning to commit a crime.
