Palakkad, Aug. 9 -- Two college students hailing from Rameshwaram near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu were drowned in Chittur river, a tributary of Bharathapuzha, while swimming near a cosway (tunnel), in Kerala today.
A ten-member group of College students including girls from Coimbatore had come on a holiday trip.
According to police, the body of Sreegowtham (21) of Rameswaram was fished out by local residents and fire force personnel, and rushed to Chittur taluk hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. While, the body of Arun Kumar (21), a resident of Rameshwaram, was recovered by the fire force and scuba team at around 1730 hrs from the river.
