Jaunpur, April 9 -- A tragic incident in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh claimed the lives of two young boys who drowned in a village pond, leaving the entire community in deep grief, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday in Parahit village under the Machhlishahr Kotwali area. The victims have been identified as 12-year-old Monu alias Satyam, son of Arvind, and 9-year-old Umang, son of Lal Bahadur.
The two children reportedly left their homes between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. without informing anyone and went to bathe in a nearby pond, as most family members were away working in wheat fields. When they did not return home by evening, their families began searching for them.
