Srinagar, Aug. 29 -- Police in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir today apprehended two individuals for allegedly killing a stray dog.

Police said the incident surfaced through social media and local sources, sparking widespread condemnation for its cruelty. Taking serious note of the matter, Police Station Safapora registered an FIR under relevant sections of law, including the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

During investigation, the accused were identified and subsequently apprehended. Further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
