Jaunpur, July 1 -- A local court in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district today convicted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Singh Vidyarthi and another person to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 each for the murder of a farmer 25 years ago, prosecution sources said.
Prosecution sources said in this case, one of the accused, Ajay Singh, was already sentenced to life imprisonment in 2011.
Prosecution sources said that Anirudh Singh, a resident of Udli village of Sarai Khwaja police station area in the district, had lodged a complaint in the police station on October 3, 2000, that his brother Janardan Singh was shot dead in a market.
