Chennai, Aug. 12 -- Ahead of his party's second State conference at Madurai on August 21, actor-politician and the fledgling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Founder Vijay today asserted that his party was a primary force in Tamil Nadu politics and not just an alternative force.

In a letter to the party cadres ahead of the conference to be held at Parappatty in Madurai, to which the police have given the nod, Vijay said the Madurai conference will mark party's next phase.

It may be noted that the ruling DMK had held its General Council in Madurai after a gap of 48 years on June 1 where he sounded the poll bugle and kickstarted the DMK's poll campaign.
