Istanbul, March 24 -- The police violently dispersed the participants of the rally in Istanbul in support of the arrested city mayor, driving them to the Vezneciler metro station, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

After the end of the rally in front of the city hall, some of the participants remained in Sarachane Park and continued throwing bottles and fireworks at the police, as well as shouting slogans at them.

A few minutes later, the police used tear gas and began to violently push the participants of the rally out of the park. After that, law enforcement officers continued to pursue them to the nearest Vezneciler metro station, located several hundred meters from the park.
