Tirumala, May 20 -- The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board, which manages the richest Tirumala Venkateswara temple, in its meeting on Tuesday decided to transfer non-Hindu staff of the TTD.
Briefing the media after the board meeting, TTD chairman BR Naidu said the board has given its nod to transfer non-religious people working with TTD through alternative ways or by giving them VRS (Voluntary retirement scheme).
He declined to reveal the exact number of non-Hindu employees working in TTD.
According to sources, the move will affect around 300 of the board's 7,000 permanent employees.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had earlier stated that only Hindus should be employed at Tirumala temple.
