Washington, Nov. 26 -- US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he has directed his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to advance a peace deal on the Ukraine crisis.

"I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow, and, at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will be meeting with the Ukrainians," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump said the original 28-point peace plan, drafted by the United States, has been refined with input from both sides, leaving only a few points of disagreement. "Tremendous progress" has been made over the past week, he added.
