Washington, April 17 -- US President Donald Trump said that "big progress" had been made in trade talks with the Japanese delegation at the White House.

"A Great Honor to have just met with the Japanese Delegation on Trade. Big Progress!" Trump said on Truth Social.

Japan was among the 15 countries with which the US could quickly sign new contracts.

Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has called the talks "constructive and honest," but expressed doubt that further discussions will be easy.
