Washington, July 29 -- Julie Stufft, nominated to be the next US Ambassador to Kazakhstan, said on Tuesday that she would like to develop bilateral defense cooperation with the Central Asian nation.
"Also, we would like to increase defense cooperation with Kazakhstan and make sure that we have a partner in that region, that we can cooperate on defense level and security level," Stufft said during the Senate hearing.
Stufft, most recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Visa Services at the US Department of State.
Her diplomatic career includes assignments in Russia, Poland, Ethiopia, Moldova, and Djibouti, as well as a role in the US National Security Council. She speaks four foreign languages: Russian, Romanian, French and Pol...
