Trump praises progress of China in creating faster, less expensive AI assistant

Washington, Jan. 28 -- US President Donald Trump has said the release of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek is "a wake-up call" for the US industry, adding that it is a good thing that China has managed to create cheaper and faster AI.

"Today and over the last couple of days, I've been reading about China and some of the companies in China, one in particular coming up with a faster method of AI, and a much less expensive method. And that's good because you don't have to spend as much money . The release of DeepSeek AI from a Chinese company should be a wake up call for our industries," Trump told the Congress on Monday.
