Nagpur, Aug. 24 -- Thousands of devotees thronged the streets of Nagpur today to celebrate the centuries-old Marbat festival with great zeal and devotion.

This year, an effigy of former US President Donald Trump became the highlight of the celebrations, as participants symbolically protested against the US imposing 50% tariffs on Indian goods.

Placards hung on the Trump effigy carried sharp messages against tariff hikes. Some of them read: "Those who intimidate us with tariffs, India's strength will make them weep, "You call India a friend but secretly favour Pakistan", and "those who block our goods will see their business ruined".
