Washington, Aug. 11 -- Amid his plans to reduce crime in Washington DC, US President Donald Trump has deployed federal authorities to seize the reins of law enforcement, and is deploying the National Guard to crack down on crime in the US capital, reports CNN.



An anonymous official said that over 800 troops are being mobilised. Terming it a 'historic decision', Trump commenting on the developments said "I'm announcing a historic action to rescue our nation's capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse. This is liberation day in D.C., and we're going to take our capital back," according to CBS News.
