Shillong, Oct. 27 -- The Meghalaya Commercial Truck Owners' and Drivers' Association (MCTODA) today began an indefinite strike against cement and clinker plants in East JaintiaHills district demanding to hike transportation charges.

Hundreds of cement and clinker-laden trucks were forced to return to cement plants and clinker factories located in East Jaintia Hills district from Jowai ByPass in West Jaintia Hills district by truck owners and drivers.

The strike has affected the transportation of cement and clinkers from the region to other parts of the country as the association has several hundred trucks registered with it.
