Agartala, Aug. 23 -- The Tripura government has announced it will go for cultivation of exotic fruits such as Mangosteen, Rambutan, and Avocado on a commercial scale after a successful yield at the Horticulture Research Centre, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said today.

"Mangosteen is an expensive fruit but good for diabetic patients, like avocado. These fruits were not cultivated here earlier, but now we have successfully produced these fruits. One of our officials went to Karnataka and brought two saplings, which were planted here. We are also planning to start cultivation of kiwi, blueberry, and blackberry," he said.
